Mission Statement

The River Edge Environmental Protection Commission provides leadership in bringing environmental best practices to River Edge, New Jersey and its surrounding communities by coordinating events, communicating with the public, and staying current with global environmental practices. The Commission strives to improve recycling participation, increase support for commission events, and to be a leader in our County and State for environmental awareness and support.

This Commission was created by Ordinance #666 on 6/23/76 as amended by Ordinance #1056 dated 9/8/92 to serve by appointment of members in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and Council.

The term of alternate members shall be for two years, except that the term of the alternate members first appointed be two years for alternate #1 and one year for alternate #2 so that the term of not more than one alternate member shall expire in any one year.
