Welcome to the Borough of River Edge Tax Office

The Tax Collector prepares nearly 3,500 property tax bills, as well as Added Assessment Bills.  Annual tax bills are mailed as soon as the tax rate is struck by the Bergen County Board of Taxation.  The Tax Collector presides at the annual Tax Sale, and also adjusts the tax accounts for tax appeals, as well as Senior Citizen,Disabled and Veterans Deductions.

Tax Collection

The office is open for your convenience from 9am to 2pm weekdays except holidays. You may also use our drop boxes which are conveniently located in the Police Department Lobby and at the front door of the Administration Building. To call regarding any Tax Collection matters, our direct line is 201-599-6311.

Tax bills are printed and mailed mid-year, every year.  Quarterly payments are due on the first of August, November, February and May. There is a ten (10) day grace period following each due date.

If you would like a receipt for payment of taxes, please bring your entire tax bill with you when making your payment.   If you are mailing your payment, include your entire tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Delinquencies past the grace period are charged as follows:

• Tax amount of up to $1,500.00 @ 8% interest.
• Tax amount over $1,500.00 @ 18% interest.
• Any delinquency over $10,000 is charged an extra 6% year-end penalty, as of December 31st of each year.
