The River Edge Police Department is dedicated to providing Borough residents, merchants and visitors the best possible police service. This objective is accomplished by blending the tried and tested traditional police practices with the employment of creative approaches toward meeting the needs of the community.

Police officers will expeditiously respond to emergencies and do whatever is necessary to resolve a myriad of situations. Investigators will vigorously and tenaciously investigate crimes and criminal offenses. However, the department as a whole will take responsibility for insuring that community service is the number one priority.

This community oriented policing philosophy revolves around the department's ability to assess and respond to community concerns and quality of life issues. Officers are challenged to not only find solutions to problems and become an accessible community resource, but to also take advantage of opportunities to interact with community members and organizations.
